SKYLOCK LOGO DESIGN

For Skylock Roofing Systems, a Dubai-based company providing rainscreen façade and free-form roof-cladding systems to the Arabian Peninsula's most prestigious building projects, I carried out a comprehensive logo and brand-identity project.

Building the visual identity of a company operating on an international scale and taking part in the sector's most ambitious projects from scratch was both exciting and a great responsibility. My main goal for an engineering brand of this scale was to convey the company's prestige and technical strength in a single mark, without falling into the sector's usual visual clichés.

I began the process with thorough sector research, competitor analysis and architectural references. Learning that the client drew inspiration from Zaha Hadid's fluid, organic architectural language became the turning point that set the design direction. I tried dozens of directions in my sketchbook, working on alternatives around the letter S, the lock metaphor, wave forms and roof profiles.

The resulting logomark feeds on the company's DNA. The fluid S form carries the organic movement of Skylock's specialty, freeform façade panels, while the triangle beneath it forms the most distilled geometry of a roof profile. Movement and structure, innovation and trust, in a single mark.

The colour palette was also deliberate. Deep navy carries corporate authority and the depth of Gulf nights, while turquoise carries the reflection of the glass façades on the Dubai skyline. Together these two colours build a language that is both premium and technical.
